The Foundation in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Newcastle University Medicine Malaysia (NUMed) is a pre-undergraduate pathway for students who want to build the academic base required for medicine, biomedical sciences, biological sciences or pharmacy. It strengthens knowledge in biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, academic English, study skills and ICT for science and medicine. Progression after the foundation year depends on the student's final grades, and successful students may continue to NUMed Malaysia, Newcastle University in the UK or other higher education institutions.

- Applicants may apply with O-Level, SPM, IGCSE, a local Grade 12 high school curriculum or an equivalent qualification. The expected subject background includes Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics, and one further subject. Applicants with other qualifications or certificates, such as UEC, Foundation, STAM or equivalent routes, may submit an application for admission assessment.
